Dear Alan: Got to disagree with you there. There are many ways for the parent to extract the proceeds of a subsiary IPO if they desire too. Simplest is that all the moneys invested in the subsidiary are a loan which they then repay. But that is neither here nor there, IPO OUGHT to establish a much higher value on the underlying asset (the subsidiary) they can leverage off that and improve their debt quality rating, and capacity thus borrow cheaper and more funds.
