Ed,

Looks real ugly with a 45% decline from the intra-day high just 2 weeks ago. I traded it a little last week and still have a core position. I'll be very surprised if the do NOT pre-announce. I called them last week before I thought they were in the quiet period but was told they were already there and thus couldn't talk much. My guess is that the new sales reps are not ramping up to speed in a timely manner. I also think they might be running high on the expense side. They indicated in the last call that new hiring, etc. would boost costs and analysts should model such. Since they seem to be having so much trouble hanging on to people I suspect bonuses, options etc. are being handed out to retain people. I can tell you that Bear Stearns (BEST) was a big seller over the last week but seemed to be done around 39. The past couple days JP Morgan (JPMS) has been selling a lot and today they dumped like there was no tomorrow. I'd bet they may have been in on 750K or more shares today alone and normally trade about 200K per month (Nasdaqtrader.com shows them doing 195K and 205K in January and February). Others were selling anonymously through a couple ECN's (INCA and BRUT). And no one seems to be willing to step up to the plate to buy. Morgan Stanley (MSCO) has been nowhere near the action for the past month (either on the move to 65 or on the way down).
