I'm having trouble with my Outbox on Internet Explorer 5.

Here is the situation:

Attempted to send an email, it was sitting in the Outbox when my computer froze. Had to reboot. Now everytime I click on mail "read mail", the first message I get is:

Internet Mail: ! This folder has been damaged. It will now be repaired. Outbox

So I click on OK and hear the C drive attempting to work on it. The next message I get is:

Internet Mail: ! Some of the messages in the Outbox could not be sent.

So I click on OK and the email system says it is checking for new messages. If I go to the Outbox I see the email that I attempted to send (when the computer froze) still sitting there. It won't allow me to delete it, move it, copy it etc. If I try I get into the repair loop again.

I still am able to receive new messages but I am unable to create or reply to emails received. If I try this is what happens:

I press send and receive the msg.
The message could not be sent. An error has occurred. I click on OK and have to delete the message I created to get out.

When I finally get fed up and close email I get the message: The folder is being accessed by another process and cannot be repaired. Outbox I am offered two options "Retry" or "Cancel". If I retry the same message comes up, therefore I have no choice but to cancel.

I have tracked down where the outbox .idx and .mdx files exist on the C drive, with the thought that perhaps I could delete the bad data that is causing my problem but I am unsure what to do at this point.

Any help would be appreciated.
