RE:"Now we Intel Investors can watch AMD's AthWiper sales go to ZERO as the SpitFarl will be CHEAPER and JUST AS FAST !!!

Look for a SEVERE IMPACT on AMD's revenue as AMD's customer base goes for the CHEAPER CHIP !!!"

This what we thought when Intel came out with the Celery A.
For some strange reason, Intel kept up sales and profits.
Fortunately, the average customer knows only Mhz (Mhz Sells TM McMannis)...so the segmentation thing works.

The "Splitfire" will be 550-700. The regular Athlon will be 650-1000 and beyond...at least at the beginning.

Why bother with the Spitfire? I hear it's a lot cheaper to make than thunderbird...like the old Celeron vs Pentium II.. The new Celeron copper is a Cumine with half the L2 disabled for who knows what reason...cheaper because of better yield but not less real estate? So how does this help Intels margins?
Honest question...
Jim
