Dear Chuck,

I had a short talk with Steven Banning at the PDAC and found him an attentive listener. He appears to have a good grasp on SUF matters but not yet in detail, quite understandably. He is certainly aware of the old management problems. What is more important, he has a definite defined objective for SouthernEra.

The promotion of Howard Bird is noteworthy for Dr Chris Jennings has a high regard for him. Likewise the new IR man whom, I know, Dr Jennings recommended for the job months ago.

I am not so sure whether the move to Denver is beneficial. Quite a number of mining companies have closed their offices there. The latest one being Australia's North (announced this week). I also think that an American stock exchange would not be as advantageous as a listing on London's AIM. It will certainly be easier to raise finance here.

My opinion is that so far Mr Banning has done a good job. He seems to have instilled board unity and, I think, will not tolerate dissention.

I am, however, surprised that Dr Jennings' role has not been fully outlined. In my view that is a serious omission.

Best wishes,

Crudestope.
