First, at this point, one can easily use LOR as the vehicle to invest in Globalstar with most of a pure default risk removed. Its very cheap and you got lots of extras to go with it.

Second, as a GTR subscriber, my impression is that Gilder is trying primarily to provide a context for investment decisions. Basically, he is attempting to force people to take a big picture approach to investing, looking at each potential investment through the lens of highly probable larger technological shifts currently and/or soon to be occurring.

Now as it turns out, in recent months, Gilder has provided daytraders, speculators, or shorter term momentum players some useful direction, in many cases far more. In fairness, I don't think that can really be the standard one expects of Gilder over the longer term.

Now in Globalstars new system, I have yet to see analysis at to its possible use as a default system or backup/standby system (possibly even integrated into a conventional unit at some point) -for sometimes unreliable standard wireless terrestrial systems, or with a user that may exit from conventional ranges at various times. They are of course targeting unserved segments, but the use of this type of a system, may in fact, go far beyond their intended audience.
