Sarah's vulnerability makes you that much more protective, just the way X's son affects her. It isn't that we love our others less, we just love all our children so differently. I think it was Erma Bombeck who wrote letters to each child-- the first sentence to each said, You were always my favorite..
Don't you know just what she meant?

And it never changes. I spent last week with my in-laws and they still talk about Dan with that total accepting love. When my mother died, I felt such a loss knowing no one would ever love me again with the same unconditional love. It's a wonderful gift we can give our children-only a lot of times it gets all messed up with parental egos and indistinct boundaries. BUt if we can remember that they are separate and not extensions of ourselves, then that love is incredibly strengthening and supportive, I believe.

Gymnastic parties are great!!! How did it go? We also found skating parties and bowling parties were successes--- and EASY.
I hope Sarah is well, that the fever was not serious.
Happy birthday to Ryan!
