Re General stuff: There are many indications that the Web revolution is just getting started. When dealing with stocks and brokers time is critical. Many here cannot get thru in a timely manner. My ISP goes "down" several times a week. It took up to 1/2 hour to contact TD Waterhouse ( much improved now), but when that happened I called MSDW where you can "get though", and am going to sign up for their Client serve which has even better rates that TDW. When my computer is idle the server goes off-line, and when trying to reconnect the line is busy, the line is busy, sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh. BE-A-GEEK will need to spend money or get bought out. It requires an engineer to restart the computer, inserting three passwords, blanking out Yahoo messenger, blanking out My Bluelight ( a free ISP at 10 cents a minute) which comtaminated the computer despite dumping it in the trash bin, and choosing which browser to use. When wireless comes to this area I plan to sign up, especially if it has faster downloads. If data is sent over house power lines at high speeds, I may try that. Summary Competition is going to force major investments in all areas to improve these systems -reliable fast ISP's , reasonable rates, push-one-button for Web access, totally secure transmissions. Its one hot, hot field, Go Mikie, and NT, and Vrsn, and Csco, and Qcom.... Yahoooooooooooooooooo. Sig |
