Andre et al.

Came across this piece @ tsrec.com

"Gilder was very clear that optical switching cannot be accomplished the way we typically think of electrical packet switching. Instead, optical switching is more
analogous to circuit switching the way telephone connections are set up. That is, a caller is connected to another person directly through a switch, or series of switches.

"The optical version of this is currently being called lambda-switching, to suggest that optical cross connects will connect wavelengths from source to destination, and
maintain a fixed connection until no longer needed. Gilder encouraged everyone to embrace this "wavelength shifting technology".

My understanding is that the description Gilder paints for optical switching is much akin the manner in which TKLC's SS7 technology works over the existing PSTN. With respect to the GBLX contract, does any one here know more about what TKLC is doing in the fiber arena. This is where its all headed.

Let's get some discussion going on here.
