Crazylikeafox, So there are fake AMD processors out there. Who the hell is making them? Intel? Cyrix? or are they AMD 550/?? processors opened up and the true speed read from the part number and production codes and they are then resealed and operated at their real speed. In that case AMD is making fake 550/?? processors out of 850 meg parts.(they are equally fake whn they are marked wrongly up or down?) The dealer opens them up....reads what they are and sells them for what they are......sounds OK to me in a strange way. If the dealer is making 850 out of true 550 parts that is fakery. As for AMD class act, I see this as a defensive move since we all know they are selling the 850 as 550-666-650-700-733-750-800 since their line makes only fast parts and they need something to sell against the low speed intel dogs. The wise thing to do it buy a slow 550 Athlon and a fast MOBO and get a cheap 800-1 gig part.
Perhaps that retailer charges less than they would have charged if they had bought the faster marked part from AMD so the client is ahead.
