L2i might have been a somewhat unfortunate seizing of an acronym since, in this usage, it appears only to deal with documents which seem to me to just be the tip of the iceberg of interfacing legacy systems to the internet.

INTF might be the dominant player in that market today, but I can't wonder that they might not have some strong competition in the wings. Actuate (ACTU) for example, has provided some nice legacy document facilities in its latest version, but this is embedded in what is almost certainly the most powerful enterprise reporting tool available. I.e., post the legacy report today, re-invent it with improved functionality tomorrow.

More significantly, though, while using the internet as a distribution channel is obviously attractive, the more powerful general case is having a new web application interact with legacy systems. This is one of the more typical driving forces in many EAI projects in the last couple of years. To me, that is a lot more L2i than merely publishing documents.
