I don't work in Madison. I grew up there, but now live in Minnesota. I work in the white buildings, the executive center, if that's worth anything to you.
Chic, many times on these boards we hear rumors about rumors, and its nice to hear that these were true. Did you hear these rumors recently, after IBM SAMPLED Willy or before? If so this could be big. If Willy isn't demonstratively faster, no one will pay the extra cost of Rambus, and sales will be limited until DDRRAM chipset is available.
Not to bash my company, but I don't think anyone has any idea what is going on. This is the nature of things when you have 200,000 people working for the same company. I'd assume IBM is getting INTC and AMD samples as soon as they are available, along with HWP, CPQ, GTW, etc. I don't know the dates of when these samples are being (been) shipped. Who knows, this very well could be the same chip that won all the awards at CeBIT. Back in November, this would have been big news.
