New Delhi: In an effort to broadbase its business in the Internet space, Satyam Infoway, country's first private Internet Service Provider (ISP), has chalked out plans which include tapping the web server hosting services business. In addition, plans are afoot to provide its Internet access services over cable through a string of collaborations.

To begin with, the company plans to launch its server farms in the country within the next couple of months' time. The company plans to set up servers in five to six locations all across India providing server space for Web hosting to corporates. It is understood that the servers will initially be located in commercially rich cities like the four metros, Bangalore and Hyderabad and later extend to other locations.

Refusing to mention the details of the services, company officials maintained that the plans have already been conceptualized and the business viability is currently under way.

"Almost 80 percent of the web hosting is done out of India. This is an effort to encourage hosting from India and consequently increase the efficiency and speed. The plan is under process and will be launched soon.

We will bundle the Web hosting services with other value added services," said a source from Satyam Infoway.

It is understood that the company plans to bundle services like free mails IDs, free Web space and free home page designing with its Web hosting services. It is expected that the company may also bundle the services with its Internet access services. However, the officials were tight-lipped about the investment figures for the project and the proposed tariff structures for the services.

The company is also in the process of building a new service portal called www.serviz.com, which is slated to be launched next month. "Serviz.com is a service portal wherein anybody can put in the requirement and can find a buyer for the same," said an official. The move is expected to complete Satyam Infoway's plans to spread its business to the entire web space.Besides, Satyam Infoway is also looking at establishing a network of `portal channel partners' targeting vertical segments. The company will adopt a twin strategy of picking up stakes in various portal companies and at the same time developing portals in alliance with leaders in the specific sectors
