When you are a reasonably dispassionate analyzer of situations you make a lot of sense. When you are a passionate zealot, you don't. I can think of several scenarios, supported by observable fact, that offer a substantially different conclusion then yours.

Reasoning from a sample of one is one of the classic ways to reach an erroneous conclusion. It is taught in law schools as a way of convincing the gullible. Ignoring contra-indicating facts is another. The combination is powerfully dangerous, as it appears reasonable when in fact it's an argumentative stance, not a reasoned, balanced weighing of the facts to reach a conclusion. But it does mascarade at thoughtful pondering. It is advocacy posing as careful judgement.
