Tektronix' TDS694C Oscilloscope Nominated For 1999 EDN 'Innovation of the Year' Award

BEAVERTON, Ore., March 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK - news) announced today that its TDS694C oscilloscope has been nominated for EDN Magazine's 1999 Innovation of the Year award. This exclusive awards program is dedicated to honoring truly outstanding engineering products in the electronics industry. The Tektronix TDS694C's breakthrough performance capabilities enable digital design engineers to bring today's complex communications and Internet technologies to market under extreme time-to- market and rapidly advancing technology challenges.

``The TDS694C is designed specifically to test leading-edge bus architectures, including RAMBUS© memory systems, which are quickly becoming a standard for use in consumer electronics, portables, communications systems, multimedia, and consumer digital video products. This is just one example of how a Tektronix instrument has enabled the implementation of a new technology and met our customers most advanced test and measurement needs,' said David Churchill, vice president and general manager, Instrumentation business unit, Tektronix, Inc. ``It is an honor to be recognized by EDN Magazine with this award nomination. It is a testament to our 54-year heritage of innovative oscilloscope products and engineering excellence.'

Products/technologies qualifying for a 1999 EDN Innovation of the Year award must have been introduced and commercially marketed from January 1, 1999 through December 31, 2000. Product finalists in the award's nine major product/technology areas were selected by a panel of EDN's technical editors. Winners will be chosen by EDN's worldwide readers through an online ballot process at the EDN Access Web site (www.ednmag.com). Winning products will be featured in the April 27th issue of EDN Magazine.

Introduced in June, 1999, The TDS694C digital storage oscilloscope is the only oscilloscope that provides 3-GHz single-shot bandwidth on all four channels simultaneously. The combination of this high-bandwidth, simultaneous 10-GS/s sample rate on all channels, and high-stability time-base allows the most accurate timing measurements down to 3 picoseconds (rms). The DSO's performance is extended to the device under test with intelligent connection devices, including a full-bandwidth active probe and a 1.5-GHz differential probe.
