That is correct, but not the full story. Remember, some were also German, Dutch, and other European stock.

The big issue was rights, representation and unfair taxation. The men of the Enlightenment were itching to try out their theories with a chance at a new government.

Would it really have made a difference to most of them if King George were English? Would they have happily paid their unjust taxes then?
