Three weeks ago, he [Antec CEO Robert Stanzione] was
on the phone with analysts and investors.
The message this time: First-quarter
earnings would come in on target, up 46% to 19 cents per share, from 13
cents per share reported in 1999's first quarter. But revenues would be $13
million shy.

Mike,

I'm glad you find some humor and good cheer in this revelation. I thought you might be disappointed that you were not on Stanzione's call list. Bob did not let me know about the revenue shortfall either. Nor did he inform the press apparently, because there was no mention of it anywhere until now. We were left in the dark, holding the bag.

Isn't there some rule somewhere about selective disclosure of material inside information? We can infer materiality from the sharp price drop from 61 to 39 between March 6 and March 16 in a "no news" environment and a rising Dow.

I reduced ANTC exposure to a token position today in my portfolio. If Stanzione is going to selectively leak material inside information like this to a select group of cronies, Antec is not a level playing field for investors and I choose not to play.
