i believe you and tero are unclear as to how G* functions -

1 - it can be a standby ordinary cell phone, and switches to satellite mode when ordinary cell not avail
2 - that is how my Qualcomm G* works
3 - most applications of G* would be fixed land on 110/220 volts
4 - ships have 110/220 AC power
5 - BTW - spoke to seller here who has full time folks doing ONLY yacht sales, 12 hours per day, six days per week, non-stop
