The pairing of Core-Tek's tunable laser with Xros optical cross-connect will overcome the inability of the cross-connect to alter the frequency of a wavelength and thereby enable the routing of wavelengths from one fiber to another without converting the optical stream to electrical. zdnet.com The point is the optical vendor will need both the optical cross-connect and the tunable laser and they will have to work together.
