2006 for adoption according to Garnter Group. A lot has been made about the ten technologies anticipated to get atttention by the Gartner Group. What is not often told is that wearable have been on that list for 3 years running. So far with questionable (best case) success.

But what is not posted by the Pumper is that Gartner goes on to say that they do not anticipate wearable moving to the mainstream until 2006.

IMO PALM will be a huge player, and will not be a stationary target like many assume. The Palms will get better and better, today they are the number one portable computing appliance.

Each year the Gartner Group identifies ten technologies that are expected to attract the most attention due to marketing hype, rapid technology evolution or growing application adoption. Wearable computers have been on that list for the past three years. Their analysts speculate that wearable computing will remain largely a curiosity for the next few years, with an unstable and rapidly-evolving vendor marketplace. However they suggest that enterprises with hands-busy mobile applications should investigate and prototype the technology and deploy tactically if appropriate. In this year's technology trends report released by the Gartner Group, wearables were predicted to enter the mainstream by the year 2006. ( Gartner Group, Strategic Analysis Report, 1999)
