OT MTNL's bank accounts frozen New Delhi, March 27 (K.A. Badarinath) ALL THE 14 major bank accounts of state-owned Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) were attached and frozen today by the Income Tax department officials. This has brought to a standstill MTNL's entire financial transactions in Mumbai and Delhi today. MTNL's bank accounts were frozen following its refusal to fork out Rs 219 crore towards income tax claim raised by I-T department for the financial year 1996-97. While the I-T department's claim stood at Rs 209 crore, the interest on this amount has been rounded off to Rs 10 crore. hindustantimes.com
