VIDNET EMERGES AS PLAYER IN WEB MUSIC
Seemly from out of nowhere, a local company has emerged to give all-purpose online music site LAUNCH.com some
competition in downloading music and Videos.
Entertainment BoulevardInc has penned MUSIC video deals with SONY Entertainment and EMI Recorded Music. The
deals leave the LA based - which is better known by it's brand name, VIDNET -as one of the few online ventures to sign
agreements with major record labels.
The company isn't exactly a newcomer on the Web scene; it was founded three years ago, making it ancient in the dot
com world, and it went public a year and half ago..it plans on changing it name to VIDNET Inc. so it's corporate and brand
names are offically the same..And down loadable music is only a fairly minor aspect of it's business plan. Vidnet also
provides business to business service,digitally encoding and it's streaming content for other websites,so those sites can
offer musicvideo and film clips.In recent months,VIDNET officals have also been pushing to broaden the content on
VIDNETUSA.COM by expanding it's music and movie offerings.
Scoring deals with SONY and EMI is a coup for VIDNET.
Article goes on to say Stephen has been working on this for the past year and he feels it was persistance and them
showing that VIDNET could deliver what they said that made it a done deal.
The article goes on to name deals with GO NETWORK,ALTA VISTA,AND TEEN SITES BOLT AND ALLOYMUSIC.
Michael leveanthal states: "They havent been really well known player as far as I know,but they've done some interesting
things. They're featured on the GONetwork,So it's pretty good!
