Monday March 27, 6:04 pm Eastern Time Company Press Release SOURCE: Standard & Poor's Standard & Poor's Announces Changes in S&P Indices NEW YORK, March 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P 500, S&P 100, S&P MidCap 400 and S&P SmallCap 600 Indices:
-- Linear Technology Corp. (Nasdaq: LLTC - news), an S&P MidCap 400 component, and Pharmacia Corp. (NYSE: PHA - news), will replace Monsanto Company (NYSE: MTC - news) and Phamacia & Upjohn (NYSE: PNU - news) in the S&P 500 Index on Friday, March 31, 2000. Pharmacia Corp. is the company formed by the merger of Pharmacia & Upjohn and Monsanto Company. The transaction is still subject to the approval by the European Union. S&P SmallCap 600 component, Powerwave Technologies (Nasdaq: PWAV - news) will replace Linear Technology in the S&P MidCap 400 Index. StarTek Inc. (NYSE: SRT - news) will replace Powerwave Technologies in the S&P SmallCap 600 Index. Pharmacia Corp. and Morgan Stanley, Dean Witter & Co. (NYSE: MWD - news) will replace Pharmacia & Upjohn and Monsanto Company in the S&P 100 Index. All companies in the S&P 100 are also in the S&P 500.
