From the perspective of SUNW's bottom line, I think it may make a difference if MSFT gets hammered by the court, depending upon the nature of the relief granted. For instance, I would think that if MSFT is ordered to make public its source code, that relief could benefit SUNW.

I think a decision strongly adverse to MSFT will unquestionably be perceived in the market as a victory for SUNW, thus benefiting the stock price.

Of course, any decision adverse to MSFT invariably will be appealed, a process that could take at least another year. Of course, during that time MSFT's stock price will continue to feel the effect of such an adverse decision, just as it has these past several months since Judge Jackson rendered his findings of fact.
