Ahh, the beautiful earth.

You, bet!!!

The earth rises too ??

Well sorta. Since the moon keeps the same side toward the earth one would think the earth doesn't "rise". But because the moon's orbit is elliptical, the moon speeds up at perigee and slows down at apogee. Meanwhile, its rotation speed is constant. The net result of these two effects as seen from the earth, is the moon appears to wobble - showing first a little more of one side and then a little more of the other. Thus from the earth we get to see more than 50% of the moon. On the moon if you were near one of these limbs, you would see the earth rise above the horizon, stop and then sink back below the same horizon. Elsewhere on the moon, the earth would never rise.

I thought the earth was the center of the universe.

Obviously a Ptolemaist. <gg>

Thanks for the picture.
