Intelect Signs $5 Million Supply Contract With NY CLEC

Intelect's Optical Networking Products to be Deployed for Bundled
Broadband Services

RICHARDSON, Texas, March 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Intelect Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ICOM - news), a leader in
intelligent optical networking solutions, today announced that Intelect Network Technologies has signed a $5 million,
three-year Master Supply Agreement with Hudson Valley DataNet, LLC, an Orange County, NY-based Competitive Local
Exchange Carrier (CLEC). Terms of the Master Supply Agreement were not disclosed for competitive reasons.

Hudson Valley DataNet will be deploying Intelect's OmniLYNX optical networking equipment from customer premises
through its fiber optic network backbone in order to deliver broadband converged data, video and voice services to
educational institutions, Internet service providers, county and state government facilities, commercial entities, non-profit
organizations, hospitals, utility companies and telecommunications services companies. Driven primarily by customers'
expanding communications operations and the increasing overall demand for data services, including Internet and
e-commerce, Hudson Valley DataNet sought technology that would meet the escalating requirements of its high-bandwidth
customers.

``We are delighted to select Intelect as our technology partner,' says John Galanti, president of Hudson Valley DataNet. ``The
OmniLYNX product line has historically demonstrated a high level of system integrity, thereby assuring our customers will
receive dependable service performance from the Hudson Valley DataNet network. Intelect's equipment is compact, flexible,
and scalable offering the complete functionality in one package needed to provide the bandwidth and level of service
required to exceed our customer's expectations.'

Using Intelect OmniLYNX equipment as the principal electronic system for its network nodes, Hudson Valley DataNet is
rapidly deploying an all-fiber network throughout Orange County, with expansion plans throughout New York's Hudson
Valley region in the near future. Hudson Valley DataNet will be in the unique position to provide its customers a total optical
solution using OmniLYNX products as part of the technology infrastructure throughout the entire network, which serves as a
high capacity backbone for the area.

``This relationship firmly establishes our OmniLYNX family of products in the CLEC arena,' says Bill Barnett, president of
Intelect Network Technologies. ``This purchase represents a clear validation of our OmniLYNX strategy. The OmniLYNX
product line is the ideal platform for Hudson Valley DataNet's business model. By offering a wide variety of protocols in a
single platform, Hudson Valley DataNet is able to profitably exploit the full value of OmniLYNX.'

With an installed customer base of more than 3400 systems for customers worldwide, Intelect's OmniLYNX product family
supports a wide array of data interfaces, allowing diverse types of systems to be easily integrated into one network. This
revolutionary access platform is designed to allow virtually any type of voice, data or video service to be delivered from one
piece of equipment. Enhanced by support for voice and video communications in the same network, OmniLYNX products
provide a single, more manageable system for traffic flow information control.

The advantage OmniLYNX provides for Hudson Valley DataNet includes a single network management system (NMS) that is
flexible and easily handled with no external system equipment requirements. It also allows Hudson Valley DataNet to offer a
superior solution to the traditional network platforms and remain responsive to its customers' present and future needs
efficiently and economically.
