<..but I don't think the ads that are in the paper are there. > Burt, are you handicapped or what? Wheelchair? Your paper advertising arguments become boring. Why don't you go outside, into real, retail life? Visit Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, Fry's, SAMs... Don't you think that your paper ads provide you with somewhat handicapped information? For example, Computer Shopper used to publish ads at least 3 month in advance, based on promises from suppliers. So what? Their papers remained just a paper in many cases.
<I know this isn't what you want to hear.> Please do not measure others with your personal dipstick. What I do hear is that there is no retail systems with 800MHz P-iii, not speaking about 1GHz; I do hear that Intel has to keep Coppermines below 60degC with that huge heat sink, in huge contrast with the past when 85-90 degC was perfectly ok and safe for boxmakers...
I do hear that Dell cannot configure half of it's production models with 800MHz RIMMs suggesting to use 700- and 600 MHz RDRAM, while other Dell models are apparently ok with 800MHz. I do hear that you cannot find any second-third-tier supplier who will be willing to assemble a working RAMBUS system for you.
I also do hear that i810 boards have repelling video quality.
