Wrong, Kerry. You wrote: "TI's DSP is an encoder/decoder" No it isn't. It's a DSP. Look it up yourself - I don't want to spoil your fun. But it most definately is NOT an encoder/decoder! You should learn at least the basics of the technology before spouting-off acronyms that you don't understand. It can function as an encoder/decoder, or as many other things, with appropriate software. That software can be supplied by EDIG or it can be supplied by somebody else, most likely the manufactuer of the device it's embedded in. Nobody "needs" EDIG to make a DSP work with multiple encoders/decoders.
