Thanks for posting the Toshiba article, Zeev. They aren't the only ones making that switch, for better and for worse. Don't forget too that when Toshiba sells flash, Sandisk also gets a penny or two (though, to be sure, I've never been really certain that the royalties are on every type of flash--if anyone can shed light on that, I would be appreciative).
Also, on the article on appliances--they weren't just talking about microwaves and digital VCRs. They were talking about a myriad of appliances from e-books to mp3 to household networks to cell phones to pdas and stuff that the likes of me at least can hardly conceive of. These will add up to a lot more than 14 million units/year, the number you cited on the DD thread a couple of days ago. Some of these things will be better served by drives--micro and otherwise--but flash will suffice for many of them, especially as Sandisk and Toshiba keep pushing cost lower and capacity higher.
Anyway, I'm glad you're here--I have been amazed by your trading intuitions more than once, as well as your unflappable character that refuses to be drawn into some of the absurd arguments that erupt on some of these threads.
