Thanks for that Gary, I bet that HLIT may be one of the
companies that can convert and upgrade the old One way directional cable. I believe they are doing quite
a bit of the cable upgrade work for T.

Early implmentations
got around this by having you plug your set top box into the telephone line (WebTV was one). HFC backbones are fundamental to multiservice support on cable.


Possibly the recent weakness in HLIT and T is due to the
market place thinking that cable will not be the ultimate
winner in last mile big-band connectivity to the home?
