TVI Corporation Completes Shelter Order for U. S. Marine Corps
GLENN DALE, Md., Mar 28, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- TVI Corporation announced Tuesday that it had completed delivery of an order for the USMC Chemical-Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF).
The order was valued at about $178,000 and included 21 soft shelters, some of which were customized for the unique mission of CBIRF.
Organized in 1996 by order of the Commandant, CBIRF was created to provide the Marine Corps with a superior response to counter the growing threat of biological-chemical terrorism. Its mission includes support of planning, training, and operational activities of civil agencies organized to respond to chemical-biological terrorist acts against the American public.
It has been deployed as a defensive measure for such high profile, high risk events as the Olympic Games in Atlanta, the Presidential Inauguration, and the Summit of Eight in Denver. The CBIRF is recognized today as the nation's premier reaction force for chemical or biological incidents.
Allen Bender, president of TVI, noted that acceptance of the TVI soft shelters by the elite Marine Corps force was compelling evidence of the superior performance of the patented articulating frame used by TVI in its soft shelters. "We are confident" he said, "that our shelter delivers the highest level of reliability, maintainability, and functionality available in any rapid deploy shelter. We believe it will find increasing use for tactical and public safety applications where portability, rapid deployment, ruggedness, and reliability are significant requirements."
TVI Corporation is a publicly owned company in its 24th year of operations. Its stock trades on the OTC Bulletin Board under the symbol TVIN. Additional information is available at the Company's website at www.tvicorp.com. |
