Not normally a conspiratorialist, I am in this case convinced that AJC's asset reallocation today was in response to a phone call from Greenspan. He's in a corner. He can't tighten 50 basis points at one go in an election year. He can't raise margin rates. He doesn't really want to cause a market crash or a recession. But as Abelson correctly (for once) points out, he's got Summers buying back long term debt to cancel out all his little interest rate moves. Result: Greenspan needs him some Viagra, cause his equipment ain't working. I think he's just cadging whatever help he can get from his fellow Playaz.
