Judging by the quality of press releases today, the contrast between Inprise and Corel couldn't be more clear.

Inprise announces a major internet banking deal for its Enterprise products.

Corel announces some Arttoday.com deal, where this company is going to sell Corel's clip art and some pictures on the web!

What's next, a lemonaide stand? These company's couldn't be more different. I can see no compelling reason for Inprise wanting to be tied to Corel. What makes it worse is the differences in corporate culture. Compatibility in corporate culture is one of the most crucial things in making a merger work. This merger is doomed to fail, whether we vote it down or it passes. We're better off with the former.
