$1.6M Federal Government Contract Signed for Sand Technology's Nucleus Suite

Human Resources Canada Selects Nucleus for Critical Analytic Application

MONTREAL, March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Sand Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: SNDT - news) today announced that its Nucleus Exploration product has been selected by one of the largest Canadian government agencies -- Human Resource Development Canada (HRDC) -- for use as their first major analytic data mart. The award involved an extensive evaluation and benchmarking process, resulting in Nucleus being chosen over thirty other products, including most of the major market players in Business Intelligence. The total value of this software procurement, including professional services and multi-year maintenance, is in excess of $1.6 Million Canadian dollars.

``We are very pleased by this show of confidence in Nucleus from the Canadian government,' said Jerry Shattner, head of Sand Technology's North American operations. ``This is a huge win for Sand. Not only does it represent a significant dollar value in its own right, it also marks the beginning of Nucleus acceptance by the government for all their analytic data mart requirements.'

The Nucleus system, which will help make extensive manpower planning and training decisions for all of Canada, will contain more than 250 billion bytes of ``raw' data. The successful bid was managed in conjunction with one of the Sand Technology distribution partners in Canada.
