Canabrava intersects kimberlite at Frontenac

Wed 29 Mar 2000 News Release
Mr. Rory Moore reports
Canabrava Diamond has intersected kimberlite on the first drill hole on its
100-per-cent-owned Frontenac diamond project, Ontario/Quebec. The FP2
kimberlite pipe is covered by less than 40 metres of glacial overburden and
drill hole FP2-1 was designed to cut the pipe at approximately 80 metres
depth in a 45 degree angled hole. Coarse-grained macrocrystic kimberlite
was encountered at a vertical depth of 78 metres. The pipe is defined by a
strong circular magnetic low anomaly measuring approximately 150 by 100
metres and is a satellite to the FP-1 target located 300 metres to the
southeast.
Drilling was initiated on the satellite body for logistical reasons and
once the current hole is completed, the rig will be moved to the FP-1
target. A previous drill hole into the eastern lobe of the FP-1 target
confirmed that the magnetic anomaly is due to the presence of kimberlite
and, according to published reports, a 22 kilogram sample of drill core
from this hole contained 22 microdiamonds. The FP-1 target is approximately
12 hectares in size as defined by geophysics. A minimum of four drill holes
will be undertaken on this target in order to determine its geometry and
adequately sample the body for microdiamond evaluations. Regular updates on
drilling activities will be provided, and microdiamond results from drill
samples should be available by the end of April.
The Frontenac project comprises approximately 1,800 hectares of mining
claims in 12 properties within a 4,500 square kilometre area of interest
located along the Ontario/Quebec border.
