If Iomega is having problems making the Zip disk drive small enough for a laptop, then who's to say they won't have problems developing the no.hand disc drive small enough for portable devices, and keep the cost of it down? People like these portable devices because they are generally inexpensive, small, and durable. Even if the no.hand drive is 1/2 the size of a Zip, it would still add considerable bulk to these devices whose appeal rests in the fact that they are small. Flash technology keeps the size of the portable device tiny. A disc drive would not.

This fact, and the sheer durability of flash technology, are the reasons I think no.hand will not be nearly as big as some people here hope. Plus, the cost of flash is steadily decreasing (watch out for Intel's new flash stuff--it's sure to be a killer!).
