Gottfried,

I'm not aware of any such public compilation but these are historic annual figures FWIW:

                   Capex Fab Eqt. Epend

1995 $38.7 bil $19 bil

1996 $44.9 bil $22 bil

1997 $40.5 bil $20 bil

1998 $30.3 bil $15 bil

1999 $33 bil $17 bil

It would seem that if we mapped the assets of the top 10 US players each quarter that should be enough. Its probably futile to get reliable data on Asian or European firms unless they have ADR's. Might need to exclude some major players (IBM) that spend a lot of capital outside of the pure semiconductors.

Still at best we'd be looking 4 months or so in the past. I'm not sure it would be any better than the ratio to chip sales, frankly.
