Ali, re:<SPECfp code> I assume that the SPEC organization decided on which code to use in the SPECfp and SPECint benchmarks, and they probably made changes to the code details but not its functionality.

My point was that the Compaq Fortran compiler optimized for Athlon will result in higher SPECfp numbers for Athlon, eliminating one of Intel's "bragging points." But I think the SPECint code is probably 'C', so I hope DEC makes an optimized C compiler for Athlon. Using the prefetch instructions would improve SPECint benchmark performance as well. M$ may beat them to it.
