Paul - I'll join you in venting, but mine is more
of a philosophical nature. I don't really direct
this at you, but just use your message as a jumping
off point.

Any news released to affect the stock price
would probably not have any lasting effect. I can
never favor a company issuing press releases just
to get their name out there.

There are two types of info that will make for
real stock price changes: material developments
and earnings.

We know that earnings will be out
at the end of April. I expect a rise in price
before earnings, but not as dramatic as the one
before January earnings. GUMM may very well then
sell-off again after Q1 earnings because cold season
earnings ended in Q1.

Material developments would be along the lines of
international distribution for Zicam (to regions
where cold season begins in May), clinical study
results, or product announcement for the nicotine
gum. These sorts of things are long term and one
should not worry about quarterly fluctuations if
you believe these will come to pass.

The short term drop in price is for the consideration
of short term traders. If you are long term, then
you can see that the trend over the last year is
definitely up. Short term movements are horribly
distracting. The drop to 15 today has probably made
most longs question their strategy. This is normal
fear that shorts can trade on (and it works in reverse,
though shorts tend to be more risk takers).

The only way to deal with things when the short term
trend doesn't match your outlook, is to ask yourself
if you are short term or long term. Look at the
fundamental reasons for your strategy and see if
anything has changed. What is your anticipated time to
hold this stock? Its the price when you sell (or cover)
that matters.

Okay, enough musings.
