Andrew, waiting for Iomega to go up has been a painful experience but at least there is hope. And if they keep raising the earnings estimates the stock price will follow. I really don't think I've over-stated the damage to our society by the government welfare system. When it started the number of people needing welfare was miniscule compared to today. The welfare system was a growth industry and the government bureaucrats went right to work promoting it and trying to get as many people on it as possible. Its growth has been phenomenal. We may never agree on the extent of the damage that the welfare state has done but the fact that we do agree that it has become at least a part of the problem allows us to start from here and try to come up with a solution. A solution, that's the tricky part. The problems I see with Mr. Barrett's plan are problems of implementation more than philosophy. Whose land will we place these camps on? Will the expense in running the camps be greater than the current costs of maintaining the welfare system. I think the states are coming up with some solutions to the problem such as limiting the funds that one person can get no matter how many children they have. Insisting that people get job skills while on welfare and stopping welfare to a person after a two years is a beginning. If the gov. hasn't stopped building projects they should stop immediately and should start tearing down some that are really run down. They have started doing this is some places in S.Florida. Ultimately, the government has to get completely out of the welfare industry. With no free-market controls the government just runs amok. . . . . . . . Also, while we are eliminating welfare for individuals we should eliminate for corporations also. I think it may be possible that corporate welfare costs more than individual welfare. Regards, Stan
