New York, March 29 (Bloomberg) -- Internet stocks fell as
Mark Mobius, managing director of Templeton Asset Management Ltd.,
called the stocks ``dangerous territory' and said companies he's
seen in places as far away as Argentina ``have no earnings, no
prospects of earnings in the near future,' CNBC reported. Mobius
described the optimism surrounding Internet stocks as misplaced
and said five-year models show the companies to be very expensive.
Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) fell 17 15/16, or 9.2 percent, to 177 1/16
and traded as low as 174. Lycos Inc. (LCOS) fell 2 11/16, or 3.9
percent, to 66 1/4 and traded as low as 64 7/8.
CMGI Inc. (CMGI) fell 2 1/2, or 2.2 percent, to 111 13/16 and
traded as low as 110 9/16. Amazon Inc. (AMZN) fell 3 7/8, or 5.5
percent, to 66 1/4 and traded as low as 65.
