EleTel Inc LETL.U Shares issued 26,428,614 Mar 28 close $0.75 Wed 29 Mar 2000 News Release Mr. George Krucik reports On April 6, 2000, the company will be unveiling Callex Web/VPIM, the first stand-alone, PC-server based voice profile Internet mail (VPIM) compliant voice and fax messaging solution, making voice mail as flexible as E-mail. With Callex, create and send voice messages from a telephone or cellphone, a browser, or E-mail program to any telephone or cellphone, VPIM-compliant voice mail box, E-mail address or portable Internet device all for free by way of the Internet. Callex also supports fax messaging. VPIM is a new standard that permits the interchange of voice mails between disparate corporate voice mail systems. Callex offers large corporations a fully scalable and cost-effective means to implement the VPIM standard in their existing environments. Callex also offers a unique solution for individuals and small businesses wishing to become VPIM compliant. Corporations can add VPIM capabilities to their existing voice mail systems and avoid costly retooling by installing Callex alongside their system. Callex gives existing voice mail systems access to VPIM-compliant systems around the world. Furthermore, messages received from VPIM callers may be replied to for free over the Internet. Companies do not have to change their existing infrastructure to make use of Callex. Companies can make voice mail available to all their employees in multiple locations with Callex Web/VPIM installed in only one site. Virtual voice mail is now a reality. "The VPIM standard permits Callex to provide a common format for all voice mail messages," said George Krucik, president of EleTel. "It lets us make voice mail as ubiquitous and as easy to use as E-mail is today." Callex users avoid service charges associated with Web-based unified messaging because Callex runs on a PC and works with any browser. Messages also can be downloaded to any cellphone or hand-held Internet accessible device that plays MP3 compliant sound, such as the Microsoft Pocket PC. Callex will be introduced at the Electronic Messaging Association annual trade show which will be held this year in Boston on April 6 to April 8. The EMA conference and trade show brings together the major leading companies in the industry. WARNING: The company relies upon litigation protection for "forward-looking" statements. |
