Intresting post. The ramifications of the converging computer and networking revolutions are so vast and complex that it is hard to get a coherent picture of the outcome. Sometimes even simple technology changes produce huge social changes. For instance introduction of the birth control pill helped launch a femanist agenda, more women in the work place, changes in attitudes towards sex, etc. All from a little pill.
Several books have been written about changes in competition, including "The Death Of Competition" and the clasic "Competative Strategy" Sucessful technology companies understand that they need partners and allies, and eventually many of them may hook themselves together electronically to facilitate the process.I suspect that the networking revolution is about where the auto industry was in 1925.
