JDN, the opinion exists that Cohen simply called the signal to sell, in order for the portfolio managers to sell into the recent window dressing strength, thereby locking profits for quarterly performance reports. She was said to have been somewhat unconvincing in voice and manner.

Although I didn't see her, I tend to agree with the analysis. The net has brought us all to news and events at lighting speed compared to just a few years ago. It has also facilitated an awareness of events and history which was previously clouded and shrouded in time lag from event to receipt. I think we just saw history repeat itself in typical manipulation fashion.

Regardless, I think AOL's recent run was related to expectations generated by Case's suggestion they were negotiating with T. T dropped a hard ax on that (twice) suggestion. I think this, in large part, caused the AOL decline. On the other hand, Case typically comes back with great news to counter substantial negative news, so, we'll see if he has another trick up his sleeve.
