InFocus© and Pixelworks Sign Multimillion Dollar Technology Licensing Deal

InFocus' Merlin U.S. Patents Nos. 5,805,233 and 5,767,916 provide broad protection for InFocus'
pioneering automatic phase and frequency correction for a wide variety of digital display
applications. To end-users, the Merlin technology means crisp, noiseless digital imagery without need
for manual adjustment.

The Merlin license with Pixelworks is only a part of InFocus' overall technology licensing strategy.
"We've had significant recent successes licensing our patented Active Addressing technology,
which enables low power displays for the rapidly growing PDA and cell phone markets" said Mark
Pruitt, InFocus vice president of research and development. "We have a strong patent portfolio with
46 issued patents, which cover a broad range of technologies in the field of optics, electronics and
mechanical design. Our portfolio continues to grow with more than 20 additional patents pending and
1999 was a record year for new filings. As a technology leader, we are committed to maintaining a
strong intellectual property base to ensure our position in the projection market as well as to help
enable the rapid deployment of technology for the broader digital image display market."

Q4-1999 Toshiba America was added to our existing contract with Toshiba, Corporate during the
fourth quarter. This contract is specifically aimed at expanding the US projector market through
bundling projectors with laptop computers and, therefore, driving an increased connect rate with
laptop computer sales.
