Jules, the more I keep digging into this story about ATM vs other competing technologies the more I believe ATM will at least for a few years be used mainly on the peripherals. Meaning Tag switching as well as IP will be the real backbone to the net.

Then the question is IP or Tag? Ipsolon has lined up some formidable alliances but I wouldn't want to bet against Cisco. Having nearly 80% of market penetration gives thier sofware a unique advantage.

In cases like this I go back to one of my original stock picking Guru's who said in "One up on Wall Street" always buy the industry leader.

About a possible buyout of FORE. I could be mistaken but I seem to remember reading somewhere that, LU was restricted in buying other companies for a year after thier split with AT&T. And I think they have a few months left. Cisco? maybe, but I think they are still having a little trouble swallowing Stratacomm, and would be reluctant to buy another company of FORE's size, at least right now.

Please let me know your impressions of the PTEC meeting.

Thanks, Michael
