Today I went to a wedding at noon.

Midday Thursday was an odd time, but it was an unusual
wedding. The bride is an old friend who's the secretary
at our church's private elementary school. She wanted to
pick a time that would be convenient for the kids and
school staff to attend.

The front half of the church was reserved for the kids
and their teachers, so from my vantage point it was
reminiscent of assemblies that we had in my school days.
Before the ceremony began the kids looked like a sea
of jumping beans -- lots of energy, but once things got
underway they were well-behaved. The little girls
seemed to really get into the proceedings more than
the boys, not surprisingly.

The bride's father is deceased, so when the minister asked
"Who gives this woman ....?", all the kids said "We do!"
Funny moment. And when the groom kissed the bride, the
little girls looked at each other with a scrunched-up
smile. Some things don't change.

And that's my sappy little story for '00.
