Fonix Signs License Agreement With Concierge
Fonix Text-To-Speech to Voice Enable Concierge Personal Communications Attendant
SALT LAKE CITY, March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Fonix(TM) Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: FONX - news) announced today that it has signed a product licensing agreement with Los Angeles-based Concierge, Inc. to incorporate its Text-To-Speech (TTS) Engine into Concierge's Personal Communications Attendant (PCA). The multi-year agreement applies to all PCAs sold worldwide.
Concierge, which is in the process of merging with Starfest, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SFST - news) designs, markets, and supports a new class of unified messaging products. These products integrate voice technology and pioneering software solutions for remote access of Internet e-mail, fax and voice mail. The company is introducing the PCA, which provides remote access from any telephone connection. The company also plans to offer a server-based product that will access e-mail from inconvenient locations such as airplanes, airports, or other locations where computer access is unavailable. Concierge products will be sold through direct response marketing and television and print media advertising.

Fonix technology enables the PCA with TTS to read e-mail, facsimiles, and system prompts using a near human-quality voice. Concierge has licensed Fonix unlimited and custom vocabulary TTS engine, which use concatenated speech sounds to create the most natural sounding, synthesized speech available, including human-quality characteristics such as pauses, pronunciation, stress and punctuation. Text-To-Speech is one of the Fonix Core Technologies that also include Automatic Speech Recognition and Handwriting Recognition.
