MYSTIC, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 31, 2000--USA Video
Interactive (OTC BB: USVO; CDNX: US; www.usvo.com) today announced the
appointment of Dr. Albert P. Gerheim and Paul Brandon as key members
of its Department of Applied Video Data Compression. Dr. Gerheim
serves as Director, Advanced Compression Technologies and Brandon
serves as Chief Architect of Databasing and Video Information
Management.
The appointments are part of USA Video Interactive's planned
strategy to maintain and extend the company's technological lead in
providing live video streaming and Video on Demand(TM) total solutions
for the Internet.
Dr. Gerheim is a theoretical and practical scientist specializing
in the mathematics of digital signal processing and compression. He
currently is assigned to expand his previous work in image processing
to develop a patentable means of enhancing specific compression
technologies. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical
Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology; Master's and
Doctoral degrees in Electrical Engineering from Old Dominion
University; and has done extensive coursework on acoustics, UNIX,
neural computing and programming. Dr. Gerheim was a consultant to USA
Video Interactive before joining the company full time. Previously
Principal Analyst at Sonalysts, Inc. and a Senior Engineer at Raytheon
Company, Dr. Gerheim has published numerous articles in technical
journals.
Mr. Brandon holds a B.S. in Mathematics from the U.S. Naval
Academy and an M.S. in Computer Science from the Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute. He comes to USA Video Interactive from
Sonalysts, Inc., where he had over 20 years experience with
communications and databases as a Principal Analyst and Project
Leader. In addition to his responsibilities for databasing and video
information management for USA Video Interactive, Mr. Brandon will
handle implementation of network topologies and application
development in the area of supporting architectures.
