Some financial reporting points:

1. According to AMD's 10-K, they depreciate on a straight-line basis for financial reporting purposes, even if they accelerate it for tax purposes.

2. Inventory, whether work-in-progress or finished goods, is valued at lower of cost or market (that is, usually at cost) so it doesn't matter if there's a logo on it or not.

3. Accounting-wise, depreciation must begin by the time the asset is put into use. Tax-wise, it may begin when it is acquired.
